Im Kieran, I am a dedicated mental health nurse with a strong background in addiction. I have had the privilege of working in various roles that have deepened my understanding of the complexities of mental health and substance use.  My passion lies in providing compassionate care and supporting individuals to navigate these challenges.

I have extensive experience in mental health nursing and have also obtained additional qualifications in dual diagnosis enabling me to address the unique needs of individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. 

Throughout my career i have worked in many settings across Newcastle and Gateshead in Inpatient and out-patient services, Addiction services, Community treatment teams providing support specifically to the homeless population. I have also worked within Emergency departments within general hospitals and currently i am a nurse specialist for drug and alcohol within 2 major hospitals.

 

What i have found is that people who recognise a problematic relationship with alcohol or substances do not have to be "an alcoholic" or "live a problematic life" they just need that additional guidance and coaching in order to get back on the correct path, which is always achievable.
